This field trip begins with a visit to Amager Bakke, where you will experience their remarkable project firsthand. The journey starts with an elevator ride to the top, providing insights into the architecture and vision behind the building, its sustainability aspects and environmental impact, and the innovative ski slope designed for both recreation and energy awareness.
From the summit, you will also enjoy stunning panoramic views over Copenhagen and the ocean, making this an unforgettable experience.
After the first stop on the field trip, we will have lunch at the Rooftop Café, which is included in the fee. If you wish, you can walk down the hill at the end of the visit.
After lunch, the tour continues with a visit to ARC’s waste-to-energy plant, where you will learn about its role in creating a climate-neutral waste management system. The visit includes a presentation on ARC’s core operations and access to key areas of the plant. You will see the Unloading Hall, where waste is received, the Waste Silo, where it is stored before incineration, and the Furnace and Boilers, where waste is converted into energy.
The tour also covers the Flue Gas Cleaning system, which removes harmful substances from emissions. ARC manages waste for five municipalities - Dragør, Frederiksberg, Tårnby, Hvidovre, and Copenhagen - helping residents and businesses dispose of waste in an environmentally friendly way.
