Befesa Circular Alloys processes filter dust and residues from stainless steel production, specializing in Nickel, Chromium, and Molybdenum recovery. With facilities in France and Sweden, the Landskrona site uses an electric plasma reduction process to produce up to 30,000 tons of circular alloys annually.
Befesa Group, headquartered in Germany, provides environmental solutions for the steel and aluminum industries, operating in Europe, the USA, China, South Korea, and Turkey.
Boliden Bergsöe in Landskrona is the Nordic region's only lead recycling plant and one of Europe's largest recyclers of lead batteries. It recycles lead from over four million car batteries annually, with 90% sold back to the battery industry. Fully recyclable, lead is reused indefinitely.
Bergsöe also minimizes environmental impact by recycling battery plastic and supplying excess heat to Landskrona’s district heating, covering 2,000 homes.
Stena Nordic Recycling Center is one of northern Europe's largest and most modern recycling facilities. They handle and recycle almost everything - hazardous waste, larger scrap products, electronics, cables, plastics and not least of all, cars.
They have innovative processes in place to produce cleaner, higher-quality raw materials ready to be used in the manufacture of new products. The facility enables them to deliver a steady stream of high-quality, recycled raw materials - instead of more of the Earth's natural resources. A crucial factor in reducing climate impact and contributing to a circular society.
In 2023, the new Battery Recycling Center was inaugurated, an investment that was to become one of Europe's most advanced battery recycling facilities, with a capacity of around 10,000 tons per year. The facility and processes are flexible, allowing Stena Recycling to accept batteries from most products and also production waste from battery manufacturers.
The recycling process eventually enables the recovery of more than 95 percent of an end-of-life battery. Valuable minerals such as cobalt, lithium and nickel will be recovered and used in the production of new batteries. The plant also houses a Battery Center, where batteries are received, deep-discharged, dismantled and shorted.
